Task 1

Sustainability is a concept, new in rational existance, from the major impacts of climate change.
In order for something to be sustainable it must be able to run itself without any outside resources and to recyle all resources in order to live theoretically forever.

The Lorax

The Lorax is an allegory for the way in which capitalism and greed manipulates and mistreats the environment. The lorax himself is an advocate for the trees and the wildlife that live in the town; He “Speaks for the trees for the trees have no tongue” as he refers to it in the movie. The movie shows pollution and logging as the two major aspects affected by the greed of the onceler, whose name obviously represents the concept of one cycle or one use. The themes are very relevant in today’s society as today the problems are just as bad and are exacerbating fast with global development speeding up. Without quick action these problems are going to get much worse. Although there was no economical way for the onceler to make “Thneeds”, it still needed to be dealt with at least with re planting.
